How do I know if I'm ready to get a piercing?

It's important to consider factors such as your overall health, commitment to aftercare, personal preferences and the risk of scarring possibility if the piercing is ever removed, before getting a piercing. If you have any concerns or questions, you are more than welcome to consult with one of our piercers to help you make an informed decision.

What if I'm unsure about the placement or type of piercing I want?

Consulting with our professional piercers can provide guidance based on your anatomy, personal style, and preferences. They may also suggest alternative options that suit your needs.

Can I get multiple piercings done at the same time?

In many cases, getting multiple piercings done at the same time is possible. However, it's important to consider factors such as your pain tolerance, ability to care for multiple piercings during the healing process and the recommendations of your piercer.

Can I get a piercing if I have certain medical conditions or allergies?

Certain medical conditions or allergies may affect your suitability for certain types of piercings or materials used. It's important to inform your piercer about any relevant medical conditions or allergies during the consultation so they can provide appropriate recommendations and take necessary precautions. For allergies to metals, we offer hypoallergenic jewelry options to choose from.

Can I get a piercing while pregnant or breastfeeding?

At Body Art we do not pierce anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding due to potential risks of infection and complications. Hormonal changes and the body's healing process during this time can affect the piercing's healing and increase the risk of issues.

Does getting a piercing hurt?

Pain tolerance varies from person to person. Some people experience some level of discomfort during the piercing process. However, our licensed professional piercers strive to minimize pain by using proper techniques, sterile equipment, and effective numbing methods.

How long does the piercing process take?

The duration of the piercing process depends on the type and number of piercings you are getting. On average, it takes less than 15 minutes to complete the piercing, including preparation, sterilization, and the actual piercing itself.

What should I do to prepare for a piercing appointment?

Prior to your appointment, it's important to ensure that you are well-rested, hydrated, and have eaten a meal. Avoid consuming alcohol before your appointment. Additionally, make sure to clean the area around the intended piercing site thoroughly. Finally, make sure that you have Required ID / Documents (please refer to the “Info” tab on our website or call us for any question).

Do you offer piercings for minors? Are there any age restrictions?

the short answer is yes, we do offer piercings for minors. However, Body Art has a minimum age requirement of at least 12 years old to get a piercing. You can find a list of piercings allowed by age by visiting the “Info” tab on our website or by calling the store.

What if my minor child doesn’t have a photo ID?

We accept the use of any social media profile with a picture and full name present.

Can I bring a friend or family member with me to my piercing appointment?

you are more than welcome to bring someone with you to our store. However, anyone over the age of 18 is required to be the only one in the piercing room while getting pierced due to limited space and safety. Minors are required to be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.

Can we take pictures or videos?

Taking any pictures, videos or use of mobile device are not allowed inside our piercing rooms to comply with “Privacy Law” and avoid any distraction. Pictures may be taken outside piercing rooms on our showroom floor after the piercing is done.

Do you offer numbing cream while getting pierced?

While we do not offer numbing cream for piercings, you are welcome to apply numbing cream at home before your piercing.

What is the difference between a piercing gun and a needle?

Piercing guns use a spring-loaded mechanism to force a stud through the skin, while needles are hollow and create a clean puncture. Needle piercing is the preferred method for most professionals due to a cleaner, more accurate puncture and less harsh skin trauma.

What types of jewelry are available for piercings?

We offer a wide variety of jewelry options based on different types of piercings. Our choices include studs, flatbacks, hoops, barbells and circular barbells made from body-safe materials like 316 L Surgical Steel, Titanium 6AL-4V-ELI ASTM F-136 and 14 Karat Gold.

Can I bring my own jewelry to be used for the piercing?

At Body Art, we do not pierce with any outside jewelry. All piercings are performed with our pre-packaged and pre-sterilized jewelry to ensure safety and compliance with health standards.

How much does a piercing cost?

The cost of a piercing varies depending on factors such as the type of piercing, the location, and the material of the jewelry chosen. It's best to contact the store directly for pricing information specific to the type of piercing you are interested in.

How long does it take for a piercing to heal?

Healing times vary depending on the type of piercing. Generally, it takes anywhere from a few weeks to several months for a piercing to fully heal. Your piercer will provide you with specific aftercare instructions to help facilitate the healing process.

How do I care for my new piercing?

Proper aftercare is crucial for the healing process. Your piercer will provide you with detailed instructions on how to clean and care for your new piercing, including recommended cleaning solutions, frequency of cleaning, and any precautions to follow.

Are there any specific aftercare products I should use for my piercing?

Your piercer will go over your aftercare routine with you. You will also have the chance to purchase a recommended cleaning aftercare solution while in our store. It is important to follow aftercare instructions given to you.

Do you offer jewelry changes / When?

In general, yes we do offer jewelry changes Monday through Friday (except Holidays) . No appointment is needed. We recommend you calling our store to confirm that this service is available on the day you are planning for it.

Do you remove Dermals / Surface Anchors?

We provide a service to remove a dermal if it was performed in our shop.

Do you accept walk-ins?

While our shop does take walk-ins, we always recommend calling our store to ask about the hours we are performing walk-ins. However, we always recommend making an appointment due to the fact that piercing appointments take first priority over walk-in piercings.

How do I make an appointment?

Piercing appointments can be made by clicking the “Book Appointment” tab on our website.

Do I need to book multiple appointments if I plan to get more than one piercing?

It is very important to book only one appointment per person regardless of the amount of piercings you are planning to receive.

Will the deposit I paid for booking the appointment be refunded?

Yes it will be.

Aftercare

Can I change my jewelry during the healing process?

It's generally recommended to wait until the piercing has fully healed before changing the jewelry. Switching jewelry too soon can disrupt the healing process and increase the risk of infection. We recommend consulting with your piercer before making any changes to ensure it's the right time.

Can I remove my piercing jewelry temporarily?

It's generally not recommended to remove the jewelry from a healing piercing unless advised by your piercer or a medical professional. Removing the jewelry prematurely can lead to complications, hinder the healing process and raise the risk of the piercing closing up. Under certain circumstances like medical procedures or MRI, consider using retainers (if allowed) as a safe way to keep your piercing open.

Is it alright to remove / keep jewelry out of a healed piercing?

After a piercing is healed, it is still possible for the hole to shrink down or close without jewelry. More information can be found in question #2C, under the “Aftercare” section.

What if I experience complications or problems with my piercing?

If you experience any issues such as excessive swelling, prolonged pain, persistent bleeding, or signs of infection, it's important to contact your piercer or seek medical attention promptly. They can assess the situation and provide appropriate guidance or treatment.

What are the signs of infection in a piercing?

Signs of infection may include excessive redness, swelling, pain, prolonged bleeding, discharge with an unpleasant odor and fever. If you suspect an infection, it's important to contact your piercer or seek medical attention promptly.

Can I swim or go to the gym with a fresh piercing?

It's generally recommended to avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, lakes, and other bodies of water that you can’t control the quality during the healing process to reduce the risk of infection. However a waterproof Band-Aid might be an option for some type of piercings. Additionally, it's advisable to avoid strenuous exercise or activities that may put strain on the fresh piercing until it has fully healed.

Can I wear makeup or apply skincare products on or around the piercing?

It's generally advisable to avoid using makeup or skincare products on or around the piercing during the healing process. These products can introduce bacteria or irritants to the area and hinder the healing process.

How long should I wait before changing my initial jewelry?

It's generally recommended to wait until the piercing has fully healed before changing the initial jewelry. Healing times vary depending on the type of piercing, but it can take several weeks to months. Your piercer will advise you on the appropriate time to change your jewelry.
